THE PROCESS AND COSTS
We aim to deliver a high quality service to our patients and clients. Here we outline what you can expect if you would like to be assessed for and treated with PRP injections.
ASSESSMENT
If, following the assessment and imagining we feel you would benefit from PRP treatment, we will arrange this procedure to be done.
There may be some conditions that are too advanced or not appropriate for PRP therapy and may require surgery or an alternative treatment. If this is the case then we will of course help facilitate this for you with the appropriate onward referrals. Please see the eligibility section at the bottom of the page.
The start point of the process will be an assessment consultation which will be undertaken either by an Orthopaedic Consultant or Advanced Musculoskeletal Practitioner. They will gain an understanding of your problem and conduct a physical examination. If necessary, we will then arrange imaging such as an x-ray, ultrasound scan or MR scan. If you have already seen another medical practitioner or your GP and have a diagnosis already, then please bring any assessment documentation and imaging with you, so that we can take this into account in your assessment.
THE PRP INJECTION PROCEDURE

PRP treatment consists of 3 injections over a period of 6 weeks, ideally every two weeks although there is flexibility regarding this with regards to any other commitments you may have.

On the day of the procedure, you will be seen in one of our clinics. Providing you are well, understand the risks and benefits and have signed a consent form, you will first have a blood sample taken.

This will then be placed in a special centrifuge machine to separate the sample and enable the PRP to be collected. Once the PRP is collected, it will be injected into the affected body part using ultrasound guidance to ensure accuracy of delivery.
You will then be able to go about your normal daily activities. It may take a couple of weeks to notice a change in your symptoms.
We advise you avoid suddenly increasing your activity as you start to feel better, rather slowly increase activity over a few weeks.
PHYSIO REHAB PROTOCOLS
All of our treatments come with a tailored, focussed physio rehab plan and protocol, and we strongly advocate the strict adherence to this in order to achieve full recovery from your injury or joint problem. If you have been referred by a physio, then we will provide your physio with the necessary rehab instructions to ensure continuity.
